A belly piercing should be treated like any other kind of body piercing and there are certain metals that should be avoided which is why fake gold belly rings may not be the best choice. Some metals just shouldn't be used in a pierced area of the body because they can cause rashes, infections and even internal injuries. The best metals to use for any piercing are platinum, titanium and real gold. Once your piercing has healed you can also consider sterling silver and stainless steel.

If you do use fake gold belly rings don't be surprised if your skin becomes irritated and instead of having an attractive piercing, you have a rough red area on your belly. While for some people there may not be any irritation, others will have to be careful about what they use and some metals you want to avoid, if you are sensitive, include tin, any metals used in the making of inexpensive costume jewelry and any metals with a high amount of nickel in them. When purchasing belly rings, you want to make sure you know what they are made of so that you can avoid buying substandard materials. It should be labeled on the package itself as to what the contents of the mental are. Fine jewelry like 14 karat gold will be stamped on the belly ring itself. Don't be fooled by some of the wording on the packages as they will try to make you think that fake gold is real gold by using fancy terminology.

If you can afford it, avoid the fake gold belly rings and go for the solid gold or titanium rings. These are much better quality and will last you longer with less risk of infection. Plus, these belly rings will actually have monetary value and may even go up in price as the price of metals goes up whereas the fake ones will be worthless.
